The Magic Flash
By René Staud

“It all started with shoeboxes and a flashlight”.
.René Staud soon realizes: With the then available light it was impossible to set the scene for cars effectively. “More than a mere documentation was hardly possible. Emotional photography, impossible,” remembers René Staud a time when wide-area lighting had the size of one square meter – maximum. He is absolutely sure: “To carve out all the details of a car one needs a large and even light.” Hence, René Staud starts puzzling in his own studio until he finally develops his first flash tub: the Magicflash® was born. With tubs the length of up to nine meters and a width up to three meters – suddenly – the impossible is possible: the perfect illumination. “The differences between the photos were so striking that from one day to another I was virtually overwhelmed with orders.”
