New York Central Park (The Gates)
Gallery Print with black shadow-gap frame
"The Gates" was a temporary art installation by the internationally renowned artist couple Christo and Jeanne-Claude, which they erected in New York's Central Park in 2005. For the opening of "The Gates" on February 12, 2005, the orange fabric panels of the gates were unrolled. The artwork was presented for a period of 16 days, until February 28, 2005. 7,503 gates, each 4.87 m high, towered over the park paths in Central Park - spread over a whole 37 km. The width of the gates varied between 1.68 m and 5.48 m according to the park paths.
René Staud was the only person to succeed in photographing this work of art from the air.
